Piano Lessons and COVID

Updated: Jun 3, 2020

It’s time to get honest and real. The last week of teaching has been extra challenging as the novelty of online classes and lessons has warn away. I see it in my student’s faces, body language - and I hear it in their voices. ⠀⠀

I look at them and I want to tell them how proud I am of them for carrying on and trying new ways of learning. ⠀⠀

But I also want to tell them that this is hard ... really hard. I’m missing the basic human connection, the raw, natural nuances of the teacher-student relationship that can only happen in person. I want to tell them how angry I am with the situation of the world right now. ⠀⠀

Today, however, I choose to find something different to focus on. Something that will bring a smile to our faces when we meet behind our screens. Will it be the sound of the piano keys or their singing voices? I’m not sure. But I do know that I will find it and I will strive to nurture it.

"Anita has been an amazing inspiration for our child. Our daughter is new to piano and Anita has been patient and kept our daughter's interest high during her piano lessons. We look forward to many more years to come with Anita."

Our music class at Music for Life is something my 1 year old son and I look forward to each week. He is filled with smiles and enjoyment as we sing, dance, move, and play instruments. Anita is so personable, energetic, knowledgeable, and patient. The space is warm and welcoming."

I have been going to the mixed ages class with my daughter for 2 terms now, and we both have loved it! Anita is such a wonderful teacher and I have noticed my daughter connect with music so much more since starting. It has also helped my not so musically talented self feel more confident!"
